FAQ

I’m a prospective Ph.D. student. How do I join?

Apply to the Computer Science Ph.D. program at Colorado State University and mention an interest in human-computer interaction, AR/VR, or accessibility in your statement. Before you apply, read a couple of our recent papers and email Dr. Ortega a short note about which direction interests you and why — concrete is better than generic. Funding and openings vary year to year, so it helps to reach out early.

I’m a CSU undergraduate. Can I do research here?

Yes — undergraduate researchers are a real part of the lab, especially on the user-study design and outreach work. Email Dr. Ortega with your year, your coursework so far, and what draws you to the lab.

I’m a master’s student. Is there a place for me?

Often, yes, particularly for project-based and thesis work tied to active grants. The same advice applies: read something we have written, then reach out with specifics.

Do you take visiting researchers or collaborators?

We do collaborate, including across institutions. Email Dr. Ortega with your background and what you have in mind.

Can I reuse a figure or cite your work?

Please cite the version of record at the publisher. PDFs posted here are author copies for personal, non-commercial use. For figure reuse beyond fair use, check the publisher’s terms.

Where is the lab?
